Online Practice Select "Ordering"
Choose "Forwards" then 1 to 100 for ascending order. Choose "Backwards" then 100 to 1 for descending order. |
Offline Practice Grade 2 students are only required to order 2 digit numbers, but are welcome to attempt the 3 digit numbers for a challenge.
Materials: 2 dice, game sheet for each player.
Goal: To fill a caterpillar before striking out. Numbers must be in ascending or descending order (decide which order you will be using before starting the game). The children have played this in class, so it should come back to them fairly easily. 1) The first player rolls the dice and creates a 2 digit number (a 1 and 6 could make 16 or 61) and writes the number in one of the circles on the caterpillar's body. 2) The next player takes their turn. 3) Repeat step one. Decide where to put your number to give you the best chance of filling your caterpillar. 4) If you cannot fill your number into a circle sequentially, you get a strike. (for example, if you have ___, 43, 47, ___, 61 you could fill in anything lower than 43 or any number between 47 and 61. If you roll a 4 & 6 you get a strike because there is no space for 46 and 64 is too high. 5) If you get 3 strikes you are out and your opponent wins. |
